Rescued Furnishings

How to get the Restoration Hardware Style Finish! Easily!

You have seen it a million times! How to get this finish easily! I just showed it on KSDK this morning but I made a video just for you. This has no steel wool, no crazy concoction. ALL EASY! The thing about the RH look is there is not a one step solution or else it would have no dimension. So let's dimension it up! The easy way!
** This style is for unfinished pieces only ** I will be following up with a prefinished version soon!
I used General Finishes Gray Gel Stain and water based Walnut Stain. (paint ships for free with 4 or more)
This finish takes minutes. Using the water and oil together make this fade easily into each other and there is no waiting. You just do it!
For very subtle added texture you can very lightly dry brush seagull gray on top. All this is show in this very quick video!

Update: I have gotten a lot of questions about the actual Ikea Lack Coffee Table Hack so I will be updating a blog post to answer those questions!

Did you seal the wood with anything after staining?

Has the prefinished version been posted yet? I can’t find it. I am looking into using a gel stain to refinish my kitchen cabinets and would love to see how to get this type of look for them!
