For Prep: Mix a cup of TSP to a gallon of warm water. Clean the cabinet door with this solution. Then immediately follow with cleaning the door with a 50/50 mix of warm water and Denatured Alcohol.
Painting Frames: Follow the same steps for cleaning and sanding, EVEN if it isn't real wood!
Regarding Sealing: We have had a lot of questions regarding the amount of bubbles from the Clear Poly. A tip to limit the bubbles: Add extender to your poly as the video says. Dip a wooster brush in water and then your poly/extender mix and wipe on (complete one section at a time). Take your DRY foam roller and roll back over your brush lines. In 1-2 passes your bubbles should mostly flatten. (Some bubbles will level out on their own). Keep your roller away from the tray to not over saturate.
Caring for Painted Cabinets: Any soap should be heaviliy diluted and wiped back with plain water.
Video Takeaway
Thin coats are key. They help keep a smooth and professional finish but they also help with drying and proper curing. This prevents your piece from being sticky for a million years. Painting by hand inherently is already thicker than sprayed coats so don't over do it. The nice thing is that painting by hand usually has less bleed through than spraying since those marginially thicker layers tend to trap it better!
